Scaling content is slow and expensive. Let’s change that.
It’s an exciting time when your business or marketing campaign really starts to take off – when all those goals, dreams and big ideas start to become concrete realities, and all your hard work and investments finally begin to pay off.
It’s a bit like watching your baby take their first wobbly steps; chest-swelling pride, sure, but mixed in with a heavy dose of nail-biting anxiety. It can be more than a little frightening, and if you’re not prepared for a sudden upsurge in your workload, you can find yourself struggling to keep up. Suddenly costs associated with an increased workload are higher than you’d anticipated and the incline on the line graph begins to bend in the wrong direction - before you know it you’re snowed under. Nowhere is this more true than in content production.
It’s no secret that if you want to keep growing your business and raising brand awareness – especially in far-flung markets – you’re going to need to create a whole load of great content. A “quality over quantity” mindset absolutely has its place in certain areas of business strategy, but when it comes to content production, think quality and quantity.
Quality, because your audience will respond much better to high-value content.
Quantity, because when you’re trying to expand your market you’re not going to have much luck if your content is aimed at only one audience.
High-grade content might be great for connecting with viewers and creating emotional resonance with your brand, but audiences can be pretty cut-throat, and they have an instinct for when content hasn’t been tailored towards them. If a piece of content doesn’t chime with them or isn’t relevant, they’re not interested.
And just to make things trickier, the differences between cultures can be pretty random. From country to country, region to region, town to town - sometimes things just don’t translate.
For example, research from Smart Insights found that UK audiences, far from having a stiff upper lip, are much more engaged with marketing when it focuses on emotional connection and how a particular product will fit with and enhance the consumer’s lifestyle. On the other hand German audiences are far more on-brand, as they’re more likely to be influenced by rationale and practical aspects like product performance, lifetime, and warranties.
So, two countries with much in common, but requiring polar opposite approaches. Get the content localization and personalization right, and there’s a lot to gain. But when it comes to global campaigns, getting it right is easier said-than-done.
Creating lots of high-value content can get overwhelming even for large businesses, let alone smaller businesses and start-ups. Global campaigns might involve hundreds or even thousands of digital assets, often requiring a dedicated team of creatives and specialists up-to-speed with all the latest platforms and content production software. And to be effective, you also need staff who intimately understand the local markets you’re angling for. Outsourcing is one option, but it can mean losing control of your output, and your lovingly crafted brand identity is usually the first casualty.
Basically, global campaigns focussed on quality and quantity take up a hell of a lot of time, and a hell of a lot of money. Or at least they used to.
At ReMake we saw how businesses around the world were struggling with market localization, personalization and content versioning. We knew there had to be a better way, so we designed a SaaS platform that allows companies to version high-quality, highly localized and personalized content at a fraction of the price and at a vastly quicker pace than could ever be accomplished the old way.
