Wongdoody: The Agency That Cares About the Planet

‘A company that cares’ might just be the best way to sum up this month’s Brand Icon, Wongdoody. 

We were first inspired to write about the agency after reading an article by Grace Francis (Global CCO and Design Officer) for Little Black Book’s High Five channel back in August. The article, Changing Our Planet for the Better, called attention to five thought-provoking sustainability campaigns inspiring positive change, with Wongdoody being the brains behind one of the most innovative on the list.

The campaign in question, The Climate Game, is a collaboration between Wongdoody and The Financial Times, the first in a series of immersive journalism experiences that put the future of the planet in the hands of the Financial Times readers - some of the most powerful leaders in business and government. 

Grace explained, “Based on real science and reporting, we collaborated with the International Energy Agency to create a predictive AI that calculates and tracks different outcomes for the planet based on 400 choices available to the player. Who better to educate and inform on climate change than the readers of the FT?”

It’s an impressive and beautifully executed concept; an engaging way to demonstrate to those making the big decisions just how important their choices are, and how they can impact the planet. 

But Wongdoody’s commitment to telling stories of sustainability doesn’t stop there. They’re masters of the craft. Take the data-driven experience that is Scone.AI for example, an app that “offers personalized insights and tips to reduce your CO₂ footprint in a fun and achievable way” - an app designed to inspire companies and teams, powered by the team at Wongdoody. And then there’s the partnership with the Economist too, that aims to engage an influential global audience, on the subject of sustainability, through game-changing insights, content, design thinking and data visualization. 

It’s all work worthy of high praise. A result of Wongdoody’s Sustainability by Design practice - an offering driven by the goal of halving global emissions by 2030, and delivering solutions that give clients the urgent help they need to reach their environmental sustainability targets. A remarkable initiative. 

But what’s really evident is that Wongdoody is an agency that truly cares about the planet, and its people and delivers the education we all need to make it a better place. It’s for that reason that we’ve crowned them September's Brand Icon.
